Bundesliga starts live today on free TV

2023-08-17

The 58th Bundesliga season starts this Friday. The first game will be played between FC Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Contrary to initial plans, no spectators will be allowed in the stadium. At the same time, it was announced that the city of Munich had exceeded the critical limit of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The other games this weekend, however, can be played with spectators. There are 6,500 spectators at the Frankfurt vs. Bielefeld game, and a maximum of 8,500 at the Werder vs. Hertha BSC Berlin game. At the start of the season, ZDF is broadcasting the game live this evening, starting at 8:30 p.m. Season planning is also being thrown into disarray by the current situation. There is hardly a winter break this season, the last game of 2020 will take place on December 21st, and the first game of the new year will take place in the first week of January. This means that the DFB Cup final will not end the season, as the final will take place on May 13th, 21, a week before the Bundesliga ends its season.
